Over 80 participants came to explore the rocky terrain in blustery conditions with the occasional shower.
This was a back-to-basics event, utilising stocks of Yalangas 21 year old Marne Rocks map, with mark-your-own course and paper punch cards.
Based on only 29 pre-entries, the single mark-up tent became somewhat crowded when nearly 3 times that number actually turned up.
Start-finish SI timing was the only concession to the modern world.
Some new fencelines and tracks were inevitable since the map was made, and added to the navigational challenge.
Competitors were encouraged to concentrate on the contours and major rock features which had not changed at all.
Positive comments were received on the quality of the courses, with no complaints about the DIY nature of the event.
Thanks to Rob Tucker for course setting, Steve Sullivan for vetting, Ian Harding for organising the event, and to Yalanga members who turned up on the day.
Thanks also to TT's Ken Thompson for filling in at the SI desk when the incumbent was unavoidably delayed investigating some tricky rocks out on his course.
