It was a small but keen group of riders who turned up at Mt Crawford for the traditional MTB-O courses. It was great to see a number of new people come out and give it a go. Lee and Sue Merchant arrived in good timing well prepared with kayaks in case the low lying areas of Mt Crawford were underwater as is often the case. Nearly all riders on course 1 and 2 managed to get their feet wet crossing a creek near the foot of Mt Crawford. In the end it was Tom Goddard who rode the fastest time on course 1 and was noted by many to have rode up the steeper part of Mt Crawford to the second control on course 1. Isaiah Woodhouse who is 8 years old rode with his grandfather to complete the 16km course which was also a remarkable effort. The courses were set to have many common legs so it was great to hear riders on different courses comparing their route choices. Thank you to Helen Smith for helping on the registration and Bruce Greenhalgh for starting all the riders and collecting the controls placed near the peak of Mt Crawford. Thanks to Kay Haarsma who brought oranges for each competitor at the finish and collected several controls except for one which was tied too high in the tree by the course setter for her to reach.
