After much finger crossing for good weather and indecision about whether to cancel, the day went ahead as planned. Luckily the weather forecast was wrong and the day started off fine. We had an exceptional turnout for the first event, but a notable drop in numbers for the second event, when the weather turned colder and the threat of rain. Overall, the turn out was beyond our expectations (we had to re-cycle maps for the first event - then thinking we wouldn't have enough for event # 2, we frantically made up some more pre-marked maps, just in case. Unfortunately, we didn't need them after all. The 2-event format proved to work well. Using the same controls as the normal morning event, the 2nd event was a scatter - SHORT (Blue & Green) and LONG (Orange & Red), and proved to be a different challenge all together from the morning event. Thank you to the JWOC team for providing a yummy sausage sizzle lunch and cake stall. I believe they did OK as a fund raiser. Thank you to the Enoggeroos members who helped with this event, notably Steve Doyle, Katie, Jacquie & Matthew Doyle and Tony Z and thank you to our cross-club organisers from Toohey Forest, namely Rob Simson, David Schulz, Jenny Schulz and Jen Woods. And a big THANK YOU to the Brisbane City Council who provided these two consecutive events as a FREE Active & Healthy Parks activity.
