Well it’s over. Lots of mud and smiles. Plus a few sad faces. Sixteen mispunches, (MP), out of seventy competitiors was a little too many, but most of you took it with a grin. The placing of controls 42 and 43 on roughly parallel routes was purposeful, as were some parallel linking lines between controls on one or two courses.
There were some impressive times. between controls 41 and 40 on course one with Graeme Hall and Jamie Dougall both dipping under four minutes. Likewise between controls 41 and 39 on courses two and three, where Chris Firman and Andrew Pinset both broke seven minutes – well done.
The increase in women participants and their enjoyment on the day was a boon to the event and we appreciated everyone’s comments at the end. We do try to build on them. Don’t be shy in future events to approach the event organisers with your thoughts, observations etc.
The usual pat on the back to all the helpers from within and without the Sunshine O Club and especially to the myopic snag tosser on the BBQ – thanks Trevor.
We are looking at holding an event on Sunday August 16th. A come and try it, (CATI), event on similar terrain. Three courses, long, medium and short. Fairly tricky. This will serve as a warm up for the Queensland Champs and the cyclegaine on the 30th August. Keep your eye on the weekly bulletin or phone Hub on 07 54490561 or email lynstich@bigpond.com nearer the date.
Finally map field work and course setting is not the exclusive domain of a select few. So, if you harbour the urge for this part of our sport contact our club and you’ll be welcomed to tag along on this task. It will preclude your participation in the ensuing event.
